The school run. The lunchtime loop. The long way home. Tandem Trails turns the walking you already do into a journey along famous trails with someone you love, even when you're miles apart.
You don't have to be in the same place to go somewhere together.
Connect Apple Health and your steps and walking distance move you along the trail. Invite a partner and your miles add up on one shared route. No GPS, no tracking, just everyday walking.

Friendly competition
Fancy a little step-off?
Race each other on race days. Most step-offs won takes the week, and the winner picks next week's forfeit. No money, just bragging rights and a mildly embarrassing chore.
Loser cooks Friday dinner
Winner picks the film
Loser brings the biscuits
Loser does the washing up
Not evenly matched? Level it. Your steps can count against your own usual day, so a short walker can still win.
Little surprises
Leave a stone for someone you love.
Paint a pebble with your finger, add a few words, and place it on the trail. When your partner walks far enough, they find it. Collect painted stones along every route.
Collect the journey
Stamps, badges and a passport that fills up.
Every trail you finish earns a stamp in the shared passport. Along the way you'll earn badges for first kilometres, early walks and walking in step.
Stories on the way
Every landmark has a tale.
Reach a fort, a castle or a lighthouse and a postcard and a story unlock. Read it together, then carry on to the next one.
Small wins, properly celebrated
A cheer for every milestone.
Landmarks reached, badges earned, a trail finished, a week won. Each moment gets its own full-screen celebration you can share as a postcard.
Big landscapes. Little daily walks.

Good questions
Do we have to walk together?
No. You each walk wherever and whenever suits you. Tandem Trails adds your distances together on one shared trail.
Does it track my location?
No. Your place on a trail comes from the walking distance in Apple Health, not GPS. The app doesn't ask for your location. Read the privacy policy.
Does my partner need the app too?
Yes. You invite them with a link and you both walk the same trail on your own iPhones.
Is it a fair race if one of us walks more?
You choose. Race on raw steps, or level it so each of you is measured against your own usual day. It's told in steps, never scores.
Is it free?
Tandem Trails is free to download.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone, running iOS 17 or later.
A walk is better with a story.
