For friends

A week of little friendship adventures

Choose a couple of ideas from this menu and invite a friend to make them your own. You can spread the activities over a month, repeat a favourite or skip a day.

Seven little adventures

Agree what you both have room for

Ask whether your friend would enjoy a few small activities together this week. Choose the ones that sound appealing, then agree when a reply or a meetup would fit. A shared menu should be an invitation rather than a set of tasks arriving in their messages.

Use the distance version when you live apart and the indoor version when going out does not suit. You can use the ideas with different friends, but check who wants to be included before creating a group plan.

Seven little adventures to borrow

  1. Monday: recommend one good thing. Each choose a song, recipe or short read. Apart: send a sentence about why you picked it. Indoors: share the recommendation over a drink.
  2. Tuesday: look for a familiar colour. Find something on a short walk in a colour you associate with your friend. Apart: exchange a picture later. Indoors: choose an object with a story to tell.
  3. Wednesday: change a usual route. Try a different public path or a new place to stop. Apart: describe what surprised you. Indoors: compare places you would like to explore one day.
  4. Thursday: ask about a detail. Follow up on something your friend mentioned, such as a course, a neighbour or a hobby. Apart: leave a voice note with room for a later reply. Indoors: make time to listen without doing another task.
  5. Friday: swap a small skill. Show each other a shortcut, a drawing trick or a simple recipe. Apart: send instructions you have tried yourself. Indoors: use things you already have.
  6. Saturday: make a short meetup. Choose a comfortable walk and an agreed finish. Apart: take separate walks and compare one observation. Indoors: share a snack, a puzzle or a borrowed book.
  7. Sunday: pick what to repeat. Each name one moment you enjoyed. Apart: exchange your favourite photo or sentence from the week. Indoors: choose one small plan to put in the calendar.

A message to start with

Fancy choosing a couple of little things to do this week? I like the recommendation swap and a short Saturday walk. We can change the days if they do not fit.

Let your friend suggest a different activity or a quieter week. If organising starts taking more effort than the activity itself, choose just one thing and give it a clear time.

Notice what you both enjoyed

At the end, ask what felt easy to arrange and what gave you something new to talk about. You do not need to count completed activities. An enjoyable exchange can be enough reason to try another one.

Our small friendship rituals can help you make a flexible recurring plan. For an occasional catch-up, try the walking meetup guide instead.

Keep a shared trail between your meetups

We make Tandem Trails for two existing friends with iPhones. Both Apple Health walking distances contribute to one virtual trail, with a shared Campfire and painted stones to discover. It does not find new friends or run a multi-person group challenge.

Explore walking together in Tandem Trails. The activities in this menu also work without an app, including when you want to involve a larger group.
